Activities of Department

• The Department has arranged a Tree Plantation for several years programme named Conquer the Desert.
• The Department celebrates Matribhasa Dibos every year.
• The Department has arranged a Departmental Re-union under the title United we Stand.
• The Department has arranges Educational Tour in every year.
• During the winter season the Department arranges Outdoor Classes so that the students may come in direct contact with Mother Nature.
• The junior students of the Department arrange a Farewell Programme every year for the senior students.
• The students of the Department Celebrate Teacher’s Day every year to felicitated and pay respect to their teacher.
• The Department involved the students in Gardening to infuse aesthetics sense in them.
• The senior students of the Department Deliver Lecture to their peer group from time to time.
• The Department arranges Cultural Programmes every year.
• The Department publishes a Wall Magazine every year named BhaloBhasa to inspire the departmental students for creative writing.
• The Department has published a Magazine with a Photo Exhibition of Old Kolkata.
• Every year the Department arranges for a Parents-Teachers Meeting to make the parents aware of their words regarding their academic progress and short falls.
• The Department has arranged a Career Counselling Programme named Bangla Bhasa O Sahitya Pather Bhabishyot on the Prospect of Learning Bengali as a subject on 18.11.2015. Speakers like Dr. Swati Basu, Development Officer, Sido-Kanho-Birsa University, graced the occasion.
• The Department has arranged for a Students Training on Departmental Library Development.
• A debate was organized by the Departmental on Nari Pragatir Antoray Nari-rai to make the students more conscious regarding the present era.
• Regarding the Extra-curricular Activities of the Teachers it is noteworthy to mention the participation of the teachers in several talk shows in DD Bangla as Anchors and Panel Experts.
• The Department along with the Department of English and Journalism and Mass Communication arranged an UGC sponsored National level seminar on Rabindranather Onubad O Onubade Rabindranath in 2011.
• The Department publishes a Magazine named Swar emphasising on literary topics.
• The Department is proud to have a Seminar Library with more than 300 books and Journals.
• Many of the alumni of the department opted for higher studies and have made the department proud by excelling in the professional fields like teaching, media etc.
