We, at the Department of Botany, strive to create an environment which influences students to ask questions, to inculcate in our students the ability to ask the right questions and to think critically.
The Department of Botany was established in the year 2002 offering Botany as a general subject, honours course was introduced in the year 2016. The department is well equipped with instruments, high speed internet facility and helpful teachers. The department regularly organizes short excursions to central national herbarium (CNH) and Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, and long excursions to different phytogeographical zones.

Sourojit Dalui & Subho Dhali, Students of Department of Botany (2nd Semester) participated in The World Environment Day 2023 Quiz organized by West Bengal Pollution Control Board at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre on 7th June, 2023 and both were awarded 2nd Prize (1st Runners up).
Sourojit Dalui, Subho Dhali and Vaskar Chakraborty, Students of Department of Botany (4th Semester) participated in The World Environment Day 2024 Quiz organized by West Bengal Pollution Control Board at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre on 10th June, 2024 and both were awarded 3rd Prize (2nd Runners up).
