Key Policies of Zero Tolerance
• Definition of Ragging: Understanding what constitutes ragging—any act that may cause physical or psychological harm to a fellow student.
• Zero Tolerance: Institutions adopt a strict zero tolerance policy towards ragging, meaning any incident will lead to immediate disciplinary action.
• Awareness Programs: Regular workshops and seminars to educate students about the negative impacts of ragging and the importance of a respectful campus culture.
• Reporting Mechanisms: Establishing confidential reporting systems for victims and witnesses of ragging. This includes hotlines, emails, and suggestion boxes.
• Counseling Services: Providing psychological support for students, who may be affected by ragging, ensuring they feel safe and supported.
Undertaking by Students
• Mandatory Undertaking: Students are required to sign an undertaking at the beginning of their academic year, committing to the anti-ragging policies.
• Consequences of Violation:
o Expulsion: Serious cases may lead to expulsion from the institution.
o Legal Action: In accordance with local laws, offenders may face legal consequences.
Implementation Measures
1. Orientation Programs: Conducting orientation sessions for new students to inform them about the anti-ragging policies and their rights.
2. Monitoring: Regular monitoring of campus areas where ragging is likely to occur, ensuring the presence of faculty and staff.
3. Feedback Mechanism: Creating avenues for students to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the anti-ragging measures.
