Derozio Memorial College established a Remedial Coaching Cell following UGC regulations in 2012 in order to improve academic skills of economically disadvantaged students.
COMPOSITION
The Cell provides Remedial Coaching for slow learners of various categories (General, SC, ST, OBC, etc). The Joint coordinator of the cell are :
- Dr. Aloke Pal – Coordinator
- Prof. Subarna Ghosh (Samanta) – Joint Coordinator
Aims and objectives of The Remedial Coaching Cell :
- To increase the educational and intellectual competence of economically disadvantaged students.
- To boost their knowledge in fundamental areas and prepare them for advanced studies.
- To strengthen foundations in various subjects, particularly in areas where quantitative and qualitative techniques and laboratory activities are involved, through proper guidance and training provided under the programme.
- To spread information, encourage education, and foster comprehension to improve the lives of underprivileged people.
- To offer courses in a variety of subjects.
- To reduce the number of drop-out students.
- To foster students’ all round development.
- To meet the needs of their studies.
- To motivate and help students who are weak in soft skills, particularly arriving from rural and minority areas.
Remedial Coaching Cell is has been established at UG level with a view to :
- Enhancing the academic skills and language proficiency of students in a variety of subjects.
- Enhancing their understanding of fundamental subjects to provide a stronger foundation for future academic work.
